Servings: 12
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- 2 cups
- Granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup
- Baking powder
- 2 teaspoons
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg
- 1, large
- Milk
- 1 cup
- Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon
- Unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons, melted (plus extra for greasing)
- Jam or Nutella
- 1/2 cup (for filling)
- Powdered sugar
- for dusting
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg until frothy. Then add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix well to combine.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.
- Preheat an Abelskiver pan over medium heat and lightly grease each well with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Fill each well halfway with batter, then add a small spoonful of jam or Nutella in the center of each well.
- Top with more batter to cover the filling, ensuring each well is filled completely to avoid any spills.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the edges start to set and turn golden brown.
- Using a skewer or fork, carefully flip each Abelskiver over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side until golden brown.
- Remove the Abelskivers from the pan and dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
- Serve warm with a side of fresh berries or additional jam for dipping.
