Servings: 12

Ingredients

All-purpose flour
2 cups
Granulated sugar
1/4 cup
Baking powder
2 teaspoons
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Egg
1, large
Milk
1 cup
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
Unsalted butter
4 tablespoons, melted (plus extra for greasing)
Jam or Nutella
1/2 cup (for filling)
Powdered sugar
for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg until frothy. Then add the milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Mix well to combine.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.
  4. Preheat an Abelskiver pan over medium heat and lightly grease each well with butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  5. Fill each well halfway with batter, then add a small spoonful of jam or Nutella in the center of each well.
  6. Top with more batter to cover the filling, ensuring each well is filled completely to avoid any spills.
  7. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the edges start to set and turn golden brown.
  8. Using a skewer or fork, carefully flip each Abelskiver over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side until golden brown.
  9. Remove the Abelskivers from the pan and dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
  10. Serve warm with a side of fresh berries or additional jam for dipping.
