Original recipe serves 4

Fresh fruit
4 cups, chopped (e.g., watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, mango)
Water
4 cups
Lime juice
1/4 cup, freshly squeezed
Sugar or honey
1/4 cup (adjust to taste)
Ice cubes
as needed
Fresh mint leaves
for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine the chopped fruit, water, lime juice, and sugar or honey.
  2. Blend on high speed until the mixture is smooth and well combined, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar or honey if desired.
  4. Strain the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove any pulp or seeds, pressing down with a spatula for maximum extraction.
  5. Chill the agua fresca in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to enhance the flavor.
  6. Serve over ice cubes in tall glasses and garnish with fresh mint leaves, if desired.
