Air Fryer Grilled Cheese

Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with this Air Fryer Grilled Cheese! Golden brown and crispy on the outside, with a deliciously gooey, melt-in-your-mouth cheddar filling, this sandwich is not just a meal but a nostalgic experience that takes you back to childhood. In just minutes, you can enjoy a culinary classic that has stood the test of time, perfect for a quick lunch or a cozy dinner paired with your favorite tomato soup.

Serves 1

Ingredients

Butter
4 tablespoons, softened
Cheddar cheese
4 slices (or more to taste)
Bread
2 slices (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
Garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon (optional, for added flavor)
Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon (optional, for a tangy twist)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Spread 2 tablespoons of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread. If using, sprinkle garlic powder on the buttered side for extra flavor.
  3. On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard for a hint of tanginess.
  4. Layer 2 slices of cheddar cheese on top of the unbuttered side, then place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
  5. Place the sandwich in the air fryer basket. If making multiple sandwiches, ensure they fit comfortably without overlapping.
  6. Cook for 5 minutes, then carefully flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is perfectly melted.
  7. Remove the sandwich from the air fryer and let it cool for a minute before slicing in half.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or a bowl of soup for the ultimate comfort meal.

Tips

  • 💡 Experiment with different types of cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for varied flavors.
  • 💡 Add sliced tomatoes or crispy bacon inside for a gourmet touch.
  • 💡 For a healthier option, use whole grain bread and reduced-fat cheese.
