Air Fryer Korean Fried Chicken

Indulge in the delightful crunch and bold flavors of Air Fryer Korean Fried Chicken, a healthier take on a beloved classic. This dish balances the sweetness of honey with the heat of gochujang, creating a mouthwatering glaze that clings to perfectly cooked chicken wings. With a crispy exterior and juicy interior, these wings are not only satisfying but also a fun nod to Korean street food culture. Serve them at your next gathering, and watch as they disappear in no time!

Serves 4

Ingredients

Chicken wings
2 pounds
Soy sauce
1/4 cup
Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
2 tablespoons
Honey
2 tablespoons
Garlic
4 cloves, minced
Ginger
1 tablespoon, grated
Cornstarch
1/2 cup
Salt
1 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Cooking spray
as needed
Green onions
2, chopped (for garnish)
Toasted sesame seeds
2 tablespoons (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, gochujang, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger until well combined to create the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken wings to the marinade, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and let marinate for at least 30 minutes, or refrigerate overnight for deeper flavor.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together the cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly blended.
  5. Remove the chicken wings from the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off. Discard the remaining marinade.
  6. Coat each chicken wing in the cornstarch mixture, shaking off any excess cornstarch.
  7. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  8. Arrange the coated chicken wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd them for even cooking.
  9. Cook the wings in the air fryer for 10 minutes, then carefully flip them over and cook for an additional 10 minutes, or until they are crispy and cooked through.
  10. Once cooked, remove the chicken wings from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes.
  11. Garnish with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Tips

  • 💡 For extra heat, feel free to add more gochujang to the marinade.
  • 💡 You can substitute chicken drumsticks or thighs for the wings if preferred.
  • 💡 Serve with a side of pickled radishes or a fresh salad to balance the flavors.
