Ingredients

Elbow macaroni
8 ounces
Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons
All-purpose flour
2 tablespoons
Milk
2 cups
Sharp cheddar cheese
2 cups, shredded
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, grated
Panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup
Salt
to taste
Pepper
to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Stir in the all-purpose flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to form a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
