Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Cooking spray (as needed)
  • Garlic powder (1 teaspoon)
  • Paprika (1 teaspoon)
  • Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Egg (1, beaten)
  • Panko breadcrumbs (1 cup)
  • All-purpose flour (1 cup)
  • Yellow onions (2 large, cut into 1/2 inch rings)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a shallow bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, salt, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Dip each onion ring first into the beaten egg, ensuring it's fully coated.
  5. Next, dredge the onion ring in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  6. Finally, coat the onion ring in the panko breadcrumbs.
  7. Place the coated onion rings on a plate or tray.
  8. Spray the air fryer basket with a generous amount of cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  9. Arrange the onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not overlap.
  10. Spray the tops of the onion rings with additional cooking spray. This helps them turn golden brown.
  11. Cook in the air fryer for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  12. Repeat with the remaining onion rings, remembering to spray the basket each time.
  13. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce like ketchup, ranch or barbecue sauce. Enjoy!
