Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Alaskan king crab legs
- 2 pounds, thawed if frozen
- Salt
- 1 tablespoon
- Water
- enough to fill 1/3 of your pot
- Unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup, melted for serving
- Lemon wedges
- for serving
Instructions
- Ensure your crab legs are thoroughly thawed if they were previously frozen. Rinse the crab legs under cold running water and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.
- In a large pot, pour water until it fills about a third of the pot. Add salt and bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Once the water is boiling vigorously, carefully add the crab legs. They should be mostly submerged.
- Cover the pot and steam the crab legs for 5-7 minutes. They should turn bright red and be heated all the way through.
- While the crab legs are steaming, melt the butter in a small saucepan or in the microwave.
- Once the crab legs are done, carefully remove them from the pot using tongs. Arrange them on a serving platter.
- Serve the steaming hot crab legs with the melted butter and lemon wedges on the side. Encourage guests to squeeze lemon over the crab and dip the meat into the butter.
