Algiers Coffee Cooler

Indulge in this Algiers Coffee Cooler, a sumptuous blend of robust coffee and creamy milk, brought to life with a whisper of vanilla. This satisfying yet refreshing beverage is the perfect antidote to sweltering summer days. Inspired by the cafe culture of Algiers, this drink marries the rich, bold flavors of North African coffee with the cool serenity of a milkshake. The crowning glory is a dollop of whipped cream dusted with cocoa powder, creating a visually stunning and palate-pleasing cooler that is as much a treat for the eyes as it is for the taste buds.

Serves 2

Ingredients

Strong brewed coffee
1 cup
Milk
1/2 cup
Vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon
Ice cubes
1 cup
Sugar
1-2 tablespoons (optional)
Whipped cream
to garnish
Cocoa powder
to garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by brewing your coffee. You want it strong to stand up to the other ingredients, so use a dark roast if you can. Allow the coffee to cool slightly.
  2. In a blender, combine the cooled coffee, milk, vanilla extract, ice cubes, and sugar if desired. The sugar is optional depending on your preference for sweetness.
  3. Blend the mixture until it becomes smooth and frothy. This should take about a minute. Make sure all the ice has been completely crushed.
  4. Pour the blended mixture into tall glasses, leaving some space at the top for the whipped cream.
  5. Top each glass with a generous swirl of whipped cream. For a twist, you could use coconut cream for a tropical feel.
  6. To finish, lightly sprinkle the whipped cream with cocoa powder. This gives a beautiful contrast and adds a touch of chocolatey goodness.
  7. Serve the Algiers Coffee Coolers immediately. Enjoy them as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up or as a satisfying dessert.
