Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the boiled and mashed potatoes, boiled green peas, finely chopped onion, green chili, grated ginger, and coriander leaves.
- Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt to the mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Gradually add the bread crumbs to the mixture and mix until the mixture holds together well. If it's too wet, add more bread crumbs as needed.
- Divide the mixture into equal-sized portions and shape them into round, flat patties (about 1/2 inch thick).
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Adjust the heat as necessary to avoid burning.
- Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with tamarind chutney or mint chutney for dipping.
Tips
- For an added burst of flavor, consider adding finely chopped fresh mint leaves to the mixture.
- You can also add grated carrots or finely chopped bell peppers for extra nutrition and color.
- If you prefer baked Aloo Tikki, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C), place the patties on a greased baking sheet, and bake for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden.
