Ingredients
- Potatoes
- 4 medium, boiled and mashed
- Green peas
- 1 cup, boiled
- Onion
- 1 small, finely chopped
- Green chili
- 1, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- Ginger
- 1 inch, grated
- Coriander leaves
- 1/4 cup, finely chopped
- Cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Salt
- to taste
- Bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup (for binding)
- Oil
- for frying
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the boiled and mashed potatoes, boiled green peas, finely chopped onion, green chili, grated ginger, and coriander leaves.
- Add the cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt to the mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Gradually add the bread crumbs to the mixture and mix until the mixture holds together well. If it's too wet, add more bread crumbs as needed.
- Divide the mixture into equal-sized portions and shape them into round, flat patties (about 1/2 inch thick).
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Adjust the heat as necessary to avoid burning.
- Remove the patties from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with tamarind chutney or mint chutney for dipping.
