Amaretti are traditional Italian almond cookies that are crisp on the outside and chewy inside. They are perfect for dessert or as a sweet snack.
Ingredients
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Almond extract (1 teaspoon)
- Egg whites (3)
- Granulated sugar (1 cup)
- Almond flour (2 cups)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the almond flour and granulated sugar.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the egg whites and almond extract into the almond flour mixture until well combined.
- Roll the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar before serving.
