Oil
2 tablespoons
Salt
to taste
Garam masala powder
1 teaspoon
Red chilli powder
1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
Turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon
Cumin seeds
1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds
1 teaspoon
Garlic
4 cloves, minced
Green chillies
2, slit
Tomatoes
2, chopped
Onions
1 large, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Clean the prawns thoroughly and set them aside.
  2. In a large pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds, allowing them to splutter and release their aromas.
  3. Add the finely chopped onions and slit green chillies to the pan. Sauté until the onions turn golden brown, infusing the oil with flavor.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and continue to sauté for another minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan. Cook until they soften and blend into a rich base, about 5 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle in the turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well to combine all the spices with the tomato-onion mixture, allowing it to cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  7. Gently add the cleaned prawns to the pan. Cook on medium flame for about 10-15 minutes, or until the prawns turn pink and are cooked through.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  9. Serve hot with steamed rice or your favorite Indian bread.

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra layer of flavor, consider adding a splash of coconut milk towards the end of cooking.
  • 💡 Adjust the level of heat by varying the amount of red chilli powder and green chillies based on your preference.
  • 💡 You can also substitute prawns with other seafood like fish or squid for a different taste.
