Ingredients

Original recipe serves 4

Apples
4 cups, peeled, cored, and diced
Granulated sugar
1/4 cup
Ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon, divided
Brown sugar
1/4 cup, packed
All-purpose flour
1/2 cup
Old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup
Unsalted butter
1/4 cup, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Toss well to ensure the apples are coated.
  3. Divide the apple mixture evenly among four ramekins or oven-safe cups, filling them about three-quarters full.
  4. In the same bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, old-fashioned oats, melted butter, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix until a crumbly mixture forms.
  5. Sprinkle the crumb mixture generously over the apple-filled cups, covering the apples completely.
  6. Place the ramekins on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the apples are tender.
  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream!

Tips

  • 💡 For added flavor, consider mixing in some chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans into the crumble topping.
  • 💡 Experiment with different types of apples for varied sweetness and texture; Granny Smith and Honeycrisp are excellent choices.
  • 💡 Feel free to add dried fruits like cranberries or raisins for an extra burst of flavor.
