Apple Cup Crisp
Indulge in the cozy warmth of fall with this delightful Apple Cup Crisp! This single-serving dessert captures the essence of traditional apple crisp, featuring tender apples coated in a sweet and cinnamon-spiced mixture, crowned with a buttery oat crumble. Perfect for sharing or enjoying alone, these charming cups are a comforting treat that will transport you to autumn orchards. Originating from the early 20th century as a way to use up excess fruit, this dessert has become a beloved staple in American households.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Apples
- 4 cups, peeled, cored, and diced
- Granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup
- Ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon, divided
- Brown sugar
- 1/4 cup, packed
- All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup
- Old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup
- Unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, granulated sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Toss well to ensure the apples are coated.
- Divide the apple mixture evenly among four ramekins or oven-safe cups, filling them about three-quarters full.
- In the same bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, old-fashioned oats, melted butter, and the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Mix until a crumbly mixture forms.
- Sprinkle the crumb mixture generously over the apple-filled cups, covering the apples completely.
- Place the ramekins on a baking sheet to catch any drips and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and the apples are tender.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream!
