
Apple Kuchen
Apple Kuchen is a traditional German apple cake. It's a delicious dessert that combines sweet, juicy apples with a rich, buttery cake base.
Ingredients
- Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
- Cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
- Apples (3, peeled and sliced)
- Milk (1/2 cup)
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- Eggs (2)
- Granulated sugar (1 cup)
- Unsalted butter (1/2 cup, softened)
- Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
- Baking powder (1 teaspoon)
- All (purpose flour - 2 cups)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and arrange the apple slices on top.
- In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle over the apples.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
