Servings: 6

Ingredients

Nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon, freshly grated
Cinnamon
1 teaspoon
Granulated Sugar
1/4 cup
Water
1/2 cup
Apples
6 medium-sized, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine the apple chunks, water, and sugar. Stir well to mix.
  2. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the apples are soft and easily broken with a fork.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat. Add the cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg to the cooked apples.
  4. Using a potato masher or fork, mash the apples until they reach your desired consistency. For a smoother texture, you can use an immersion blender.
  5. Serve the apple mash warm. It's the perfect complement to a roast chicken or pork, or as a unique addition to your Thanksgiving table.
