Ingredients
- Ground cinnamon (for garnish)

- Sugar (2 tablespoons)
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
- Milk (2 cups)
- Mexican chocolate (2 ounces, chopped)
- Water (2 cups)
- Masa harina (1/4 cup)
Instructions
- In a saucepan, whisk together the masa harina and water until well combined.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped Mexican chocolate to the saucepan and continue stirring until the chocolate is melted and well incorporated.
- Pour in the milk and add the cinnamon, vanilla extract, and sugar. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the atole cool slightly before serving.
- Pour the atole into mugs or cups and top with whipped cream.
- Sprinkle ground cinnamon on top for garnish.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
