Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • Ground beef (1 pound, preferably 80/20 for juiciness)
  • Bacon (6 slices, cooked and crumbled)
  • Cheddar cheese (4 slices)
  • Salt (1 teaspoon)
  • Black pepper (1/2 teaspoon)
  • Hamburger buns (4)
  • Lettuce (4 leaves, washed and dried)
  • Tomato (1, sliced)
  • Onion (1, sliced)
  • Pickles (4 slices)
  • Ketchup (optional, for serving)
  • Mustard (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled bacon, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  2. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions, shaping each into a ball.
  3. Take one portion and flatten it into a patty shape about 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Place a slice of cheddar cheese in the center of the patty, then take another portion of the beef mixture and flatten it into a patty shape.
  5. Carefully place this second patty on top of the cheese, pressing the edges of the two patties together to seal the cheese inside. Ensure there are no gaps.
  6. Repeat the process with the remaining portions of beef mixture and cheese slices to create 4 stuffed patties.
  7. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  8. Cook the stuffed burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness, ensuring the cheese is melted inside.
  9. While the burgers are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
  10. Assemble the burgers by placing a stuffed patty on the bottom half of each bun.
  11. Top with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles, adding ketchup and mustard if desired.
  12. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve hot. Enjoy your gourmet creation!
