Ingredients

Bacon
8 ounces, cut into small pieces
Onions
2 large, thinly sliced
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Eggs
2 large
Heavy cream
1 cup
Gruyere cheese
1 cup, grated
Pre-made pie crust
1 (9-inch) crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  2. Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the bacon. Cook until crispy, then transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain the excess fat.
  3. In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the onions. Cook them over medium heat until they become soft and caramelized, for about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream until well combined. Stir in the grated gruyere cheese.
  5. Crumble the cooked bacon and add it to the egg and cream mixture, along with the caramelized onions. Stir until everything is well incorporated.
  6. Pour the mixture into the pre-made pie crust, making sure it is evenly distributed.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tart is set and golden brown.
  8. Allow the tart to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the filling to set and makes slicing easier.
