Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until it becomes crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from the skillet and drain on paper towels.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- On a clean surface, place two slices of bread buttered side down.
- Layer each slice with 2 slices of sharp cheddar cheese, followed by 2 slices of crispy bacon, and then a few slices of fresh tomato. Season with a sprinkle of black pepper and garlic powder if desired.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
- Remove from the skillet and allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing in half and serving warm.
Tips
- For an extra crunch, consider adding some spinach or arugula between the layers.
- Try different cheese varieties like gouda or pepper jack for a twist on flavor.
- If you like spicy food, add some sliced jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce.
