Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet and set aside on a paper towel to drain excess grease.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, cooked bacon (chopped), caramelized onion, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, making an indentation in the center to create a pocket for the filling.
- Preheat a grill or a grill pan over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- Assemble the burgers by placing each patty on a hamburger bun and topping with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.
Tips
- For an extra flavor boost, consider adding Worcestershire sauce or garlic powder to the beef mixture.
- Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese, such as pepper jack or blue cheese, for a unique twist.
- If you like a bit of heat, add jalapeños or hot sauce to the filling.
