This dish is perfect for family gatherings or cozy weeknight dinners, bringing the warmth of Italy to your table. The layered flavors and cheesy goodness will have everyone coming back for seconds!

Ingredients

Mostaccioli pasta
1 pound
Ground beef
1 pound
Onion
1, diced
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Tomato sauce
28 ounces
Dried oregano
1 teaspoon
Dried basil
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Mozzarella cheese
2 cups, shredded
Parmesan cheese
1 cup, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, cook the mostaccioli pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Once browned, drain any excess fat.
  4. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  6. In a large baking dish, combine the cooked mostaccioli pasta with the meat sauce. Toss well to ensure the pasta is evenly coated.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the pasta.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. This dish can be garnished with fresh basil or parsley for added flavor and presentation.

Tips

  • 💡 For a spicier kick, consider adding red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • 💡 Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
  • 💡 You can also add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat mixture for extra flavor and nutrition.
