Servings: 6

Ingredients

Warm water
1 1/2 cups (110°f / 43°c)
Sugar
1 teaspoon
Salt
1 teaspoon
Instant yeast
2 teaspoons
All-purpose flour
4 cups, plus more for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar until well combined.
  2. Gradually add the warm water while stirring with a wooden spoon until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle in a little more flour as necessary.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a baking stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.
  6. Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions.
  7. Shape each portion into a round ball, then flatten it slightly with your hands to form a disc about 1/2 inch thick.
  8. Place the flattened discs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or directly onto the preheated baking stone.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the bread cool on a wire rack before serving. Enjoy it warm!
