
Banana French Toast Casserole
This delicious banana french toast casserole is perfect for breakfast or brunch. It's made with ripe bananas, cinnamon, and a sweet custard-soaked bread.
Ingredients
- Maple syrup (1/4 cup)
- Butter (2 tablespoons, melted)
- Brown sugar (1/4 cup)
- Cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- Milk (1 1/2 cups)
- Eggs (4)
- Ripe bananas (3, sliced)
- Bread (1 loaf, day-old and sliced)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange half of the bread slices in the prepared baking dish.
- Layer half of the sliced bananas over the bread.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
- Pour half of the egg mixture over the bread and bananas in the baking dish.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining bread, bananas, and egg mixture.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top of the casserole.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the bread to soak up the custard.
- Bake the casserole for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
- Serve warm with maple syrup drizzled on top.
