Fluffy Banana Soufflé
Indulge in the airy delight of this Fluffy Banana Soufflé, a dessert that combines the natural sweetness of ripe bananas with the lightness of whipped egg whites. This souffle is not only a showstopper but also a nostalgic treat that dates back to the 18th century, when soufflés were first popularized in France. Perfect for impressing guests or enjoying a cozy night in, serve it dusted with powdered sugar and perhaps a drizzle of caramel sauce for an extra touch of decadence.
Servings: 6
Ingredients
- Ripe bananas
- 3, mashed
- Granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup, divided
- Egg yolks
- 3
- Vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon
- Egg whites
- 5
- Powdered sugar
- for dusting
- Optional: Caramel sauce
- for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease ramekins or a large souffle dish with butter and lightly dust with granulated sugar.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the mashed bananas to the egg yolk mixture and mix until fully combined.
- In another clean bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar while continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the banana mixture in three additions, being careful not to deflate the mixture.
- Pour the soufflé mixture into the prepared ramekins or souffle dish, filling them about 3/4 full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the soufflés are puffed and golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and dust with powdered sugar. For an extra indulgence, drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
- Serve immediately, as soufflés are best enjoyed fresh from the oven.
