Ingredients

Original recipe serves 12

Ripe bananas
3
Unsalted butter
1/2 cup, melted
Granulated sugar
1 cup
Egg
1
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
All-purpose flour
2 cups
Baking soda
1 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Chopped walnuts
1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth.
  3. To the mashed bananas, add the melted butter, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing to ensure a tender bread.
  6. Fold in the chopped walnuts, distributing them evenly through the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the bread is browning too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. This will make slicing easier and prevent the bread from becoming soggy.
  10. Serve as is or lightly toasted with a smear of butter. Enjoy!
