
Bananas Foster French Toast
This indulgent breakfast dish combines the flavors of bananas foster with classic French toast.
Ingredients
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- Maple syrup (for serving)
- Bread slices (4 thick slices)
- Milk (1/2 cup)
- Eggs (4)
- Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
- Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon)
- Brown sugar (2 tablespoons)
- Butter (2 tablespoons)
- Bananas (2 ripe, sliced)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the sliced bananas, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract to the skillet. Cook until the bananas are caramelized and the sugar has melted, about 3-4 minutes. Set aside.
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs and milk.
- Dip each bread slice into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak for a few seconds on each side.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Cook the soaked bread slices until golden brown and crispy on each side, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Serve the French toast topped with the caramelized bananas and drizzle with maple syrup.
