BBQ Pork Sliders

These BBQ Pork Sliders are a mouthwatering delight that brings the smoky, sweet flavors of southern barbecue right to your table. Made with tender, juicy pork shoulder that has been slow-cooked to perfection and smothered in a rich and tangy BBQ sauce, each slider is served on a soft, pillowy bun and topped off with crunchy coleslaw for that perfect contrast. The combination of flavors and textures makes these sliders a crowd-pleaser for any gathering or family meal. Historically, BBQ pork sliders have their roots in the southern United States, where slow-cooking meats over wood fires has been a cherished tradition for centuries.

Ingredients

Pork shoulder
3-4 pounds
BBQ sauce
1 cup
Onion
1 large, diced
Garlic
4 cloves, minced
Honey
2 tablespoons
Apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup
Slider buns
12
Coleslaw
2 cups (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, diced onion, minced garlic, honey, and apple cider vinegar. Stir well to create a harmonious sauce.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture over the pork shoulder, making sure it is well-coated.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender enough to be easily shredded with a fork.
  5. Once cooked, carefully remove the pork from the slow cooker and use two forks to shred it into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the remaining sauce.
  7. To assemble the sliders, place a generous portion of the BBQ pork on the bottom half of each slider bun, top with coleslaw, and then place the top half of the bun on.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips

  • 💡 For an extra kick, consider adding some chopped jalapeños to the coleslaw.
  • 💡 You can use a variety of BBQ sauces to customize the flavor—try a spicy or tangy version for a different twist.
  • 💡 If you have leftovers, the BBQ pork can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated easily.
