Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Ground beef
- 1 pound
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon
- Beer (lager or ale)
- 1/2 cup
- Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup
- Burger buns
- 4
- Lettuce leaves
- 4
- Tomato, sliced
- 1
- Onion, sliced
- 1
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Form the mixture into 4 equally sized patties.
- Cook the patties for about 5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. For medium, aim for an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- While the burgers are cooking, prepare the beer cheese sauce. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the shredded cheddar cheese, beer, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Stir continuously until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash more beer to reach your desired consistency.
- If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- To assemble, place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun. Top it with a cooked burger patty, a generous spoonful of beer cheese sauce, and a slice of tomato and onion. Finish with the top half of the bun.
- Serve immediately, with any remaining beer cheese sauce on the side for dipping.
