Ingredients

  • Milk (1 cup)
  • Sugar (2 tablespoons or to taste)
  • Water (1 cup)
  • Cloves (3 whole)
  • Cinnamon stick (1)
  • Cardamom pods (3, crushed)
  • Ground coffee (2 tablespoons)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the ground coffee, crushed cardamom pods, whole cloves, cinnamon stick, and water.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the coffee steep for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. While the coffee is steeping, heat the milk in a separate saucepan or in the microwave until hot but not boiling.
  6. Strain the coffee mixture into cups or mugs, removing the spices.
  7. Add sugar to taste and stir until dissolved.
  8. Pour the hot milk into the coffee and stir gently to combine.
