Juicy Bison Burger
Indulge in the rich, robust flavors of a juicy bison burger, a delectable twist on the classic hamburger. This burger features lean bison meat, known for its slightly sweet and earthy taste, topped with melted cheddar cheese, fresh vegetables, and served on a perfectly toasted bun. Bison has been a staple in Native American diets for centuries and symbolizes the spirit of the American frontier. Each bite of this burger not only satisfies your cravings but also offers a taste of history.
Ingredients
- Bison meat
- 1 pound, ground
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Cheddar cheese
- 4 slices
- Hamburger buns
- 4, toasted
- Lettuce
- 4 leaves, washed
- Tomato
- 1, sliced
- Onion
- 1, sliced (red or white)
Instructions
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground bison meat, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.
- Place the patties on the preheated grill. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness (internal temperature of 160°F for medium).
- During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of cheddar cheese to each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
- While the burgers are grilling, place the hamburger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted.
- To assemble the burgers, start with a toasted bottom bun. Add a lettuce leaf, followed by the bison patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and onion. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve immediately with your favorite sides, such as sweet potato fries or a fresh salad.
Tips
- For added flavor, consider marinating the bison meat in Worcestershire sauce for a few hours before grilling.
- Experiment with different toppings such as avocado, jalapeños, or barbecue sauce for a unique twist.
- If you prefer a smokier flavor, add a few wood chips to your grill.
