Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground bison, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix with your hands or a spoon until the ingredients are well combined and the mixture holds together firmly.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if you prefer to bake the meatballs. Otherwise, keep the skillet ready for stovetop cooking.
- Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and arrange them on a parchment-lined baking sheet if baking, or set aside if cooking on the stovetop.
- For stovetop cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the meatballs to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd them. Cook for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally to brown all sides evenly.
- For baking, place the meatballs in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they are browned and cooked through.
- After the meatballs are cooked, pour the marinara sauce over them in the skillet. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and let simmer for an additional 15 minutes, ensuring the meatballs are thoroughly heated and have absorbed the flavors of the sauce.
- Serve the meatballs warm, topped with extra marinara sauce and a sprinkle of chopped parsley for garnish. Enjoy with pasta, on a sub roll, or on their own!
Tips
- For an extra layer of flavor, add grated Parmesan cheese to the meatball mixture.
- Feel free to experiment with different herbs such as oregano or basil for added depth.
- If you prefer a spicy kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce.
