Instructions
- Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add two slices of bread, butter side down.
- On each slice of bread in the skillet, layer in this order: one slice of cheese, two slices of ham, one lettuce leaf, and a few tomato slices.
- Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard on the non-buttered side of the remaining slices of bread. Place them on top of the assembled sandwiches, butter side up.
- Cook the sandwiches until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Carefully flip and cook until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted, another 2-3 minutes.
- Remove sandwiches from the skillet, let them cool for a minute, then cut in half and serve.
Tips
- For an added crunch, you could also include thinly sliced onions or pickles. To make it healthier, consider using whole-grain bread.
