Black Forest Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Experience the taste of the centuries-old Black Forest tradition with this delectable sandwich. Stuffed with premium Black Forest ham, oozing with melted cheddar cheese, and layered with crisp lettuce and fresh tomatoes, this sandwich is an exquisite blend of savory, creamy, and fresh flavors. It's a perfect quick meal solution that doesn't compromise on taste.

Ingredients

Dijon Mustard
2 tablespoons
Mayonnaise
2 tablespoons
Tomato
1, sliced
Lettuce
2 leaves, washed and dried
Unsalted butter
4 tablespoons, at room temperature
Bread
4 slices
Cheddar cheese
2 slices
Black forest ham
4 slices

Instructions

  1. Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add two slices of bread, butter side down.
  3. On each slice of bread in the skillet, layer in this order: one slice of cheese, two slices of ham, one lettuce leaf, and a few tomato slices.
  4. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard on the non-buttered side of the remaining slices of bread. Place them on top of the assembled sandwiches, butter side up.
  5. Cook the sandwiches until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Carefully flip and cook until the second side is golden brown and the cheese is melted, another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove sandwiches from the skillet, let them cool for a minute, then cut in half and serve.

Tips

  • 💡 For an added crunch, you could also include thinly sliced onions or pickles. To make it healthier, consider using whole-grain bread.
