Blackberry Balsamic Glaze

Picture this: A symphony of sweet and tart, with the luscious flavor of ripe blackberries dancing with the rich, deep notes of balsamic vinegar. This blackberry balsamic glaze is the perfect culinary masterpiece to elevate any dish. Originating from Italy, where balsamic vinegar has been produced for over 1000 years, this glaze brings a modern twist with the addition of blackberries. It is a match made in heaven when drizzled over fresh salads, succulent roasted vegetables, or sizzling grilled meats.

Serves 8

Ingredients

Fresh blackberries
1 cup
Balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup
Honey
2 tablespoons
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Combine fresh blackberries, balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, and freshly ground black pepper in a small saucepan.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat until it reaches a gentle boil.
  3. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes. This will allow the flavors to meld together beautifully.
  4. After simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. This will make it safer and easier to blend.
  5. Transfer the slightly cooled mixture to a blender or food processor. Blend until the mixture is smooth and fully incorporated.
  6. Place a fine-mesh sieve over a bowl and pour the blended mixture into the sieve. This will catch any unwanted blackberry seeds and create a smoother glaze.
  7. Let the strained glaze cool completely. As it cools, it will thicken into a perfect consistency for drizzling.
  8. Serve the blackberry balsamic glaze by spooning it over your desired dish. It is absolutely divine when paired with a caprese salad or a grilled steak.

Tips

  • 💡 For a sweeter glaze, you can add more honey to taste.
  • 💡 If you prefer a thicker glaze, allow it to simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes before blending.
