Ingredients

Salt
1/2 cup
Water
2 gallons
Live lobsters
2 (1.5 to 2 pounds each)
Unsalted butter
1/2 cup, melted
Fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon
Lemon wedges
for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the water and salt to a rolling boil.
  2. Add the live lobsters one at a time, head first. Cover the pot and return to a boil.
  3. Boil the lobsters for 15 minutes (for 1.5-pound lobsters) to 20 minutes (for 2-pound lobsters) or until the shells are bright red and the tail meat is opaque and firm.
  4. While the lobsters are boiling, prepare the Lemon Butter Sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the fresh lemon juice.
  5. Remove the lobsters from the pot using tongs and let them cool for a few minutes.
  6. Serve the lobsters with the Lemon Butter Sauce and lemon wedges on the side.
