Milk
2 cups
Dark rum
1/4 cup
Amaretti cookies
1 cup, crushed
Eggs
4 large
Cocoa powder
1/2 cup
Granulated sugar
3/4 cup
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
Pinch of salt
to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt, whisking until well blended.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Stir in the crushed amaretti cookies and dark rum, mixing thoroughly to incorporate all the flavors.
  5. Gradually add the milk while stirring continuously, ensuring the mixture is well combined and free of lumps.
  6. If desired, add vanilla extract for an extra layer of flavor, mixing it in well.
  7. Pour the custard mixture into a greased baking dish or individual ramekins for portion control.
  8. Place the baking dish in a larger oven-safe pan filled with water (bain-marie) to create a gentle steam environment for even cooking.
  9. Bake for about 40 minutes, or until the custard is set. A knife inserted in the center should come out clean.
  10. Remove from the oven and let the Bonet cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
