Ingredients

Original recipe serves Enough for 2 lbs of meat

Black pepper
1 teaspoon, freshly ground
Garlic
3 cloves, minced
Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons
Soy sauce
1/2 cup
Brown sugar
1/2 cup
Bourbon
1/2 cup

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine 1/2 cup of bourbon, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of Dijon mustard, 3 cloves of minced garlic, and 1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.
  2. Whisk the mixture vigorously until the sugar is fully dissolved and the ingredients are well combined.
  3. Place your choice of meat (pork or chicken works best) in a large zip-top bag. Pour the marinade over it, ensuring the meat is fully coated.
  4. Seal the bag, pressing out as much air as possible. Massage the bag gently to distribute the marinade evenly.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. For a deeper flavor penetration, marinate the meat overnight.
  6. Preheat your grill. Remove the meat from the marinade, shaking off the excess. Discard the remaining marinade.
  7. Grill the meat as desired. Remember, the sugar in the marinade can cause flare-ups, so watch it closely.

Tips

  • 💡 For a spicier kick, add a teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes to the marinade.
  • 💡 Avoid using aluminum containers for marinating as they can react with the acid in the marinade, altering the flavor.
