Unsalted butter
4 tablespoons, softened
White bread
8 slices
Cheddar cheese
1 cup, grated
Tomatoes
2 large, sliced
Onion
1 medium, thinly sliced
Salt
to taste
Pepper
to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by buttering one side of each slice of bread generously using softened unsalted butter.
  2. On the non-buttered side of four slices, layer the grated cheddar cheese, sliced tomatoes, and thinly sliced onion. Season generously with salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.
  3. Top these four slices with the remaining slices of bread, ensuring the buttered sides are facing up.
  4. Preheat your braai (grill) to medium heat. Place the sandwiches on the braai grid and close it.
  5. Grill the sandwiches carefully, turning frequently, until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese has melted, which should take about 15 minutes.
  6. Once perfectly grilled, remove from the heat and let them cool slightly before cutting them into halves or quarters.
