Creamy Broccoli and Cauliflower Gratin

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pot of boiling water, steam the broccoli and cauliflower florets until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to create a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Place the steamed broccoli and cauliflower in a greased baking dish. Pour the cheese sauce over the vegetables and mix well to coat evenly.
