Creamy Broccoli and Cauliflower Gratin

Ingredients

- Breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup
- Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup, grated
- Cheddar cheese
- 1 cup, shredded
- Milk
- 2 cups
- All-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup
- Butter
- 3 tablespoons
- Cauliflower
- 4 cups, florets
- Broccoli
- 4 cups, florets
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pot of boiling water, steam the broccoli and cauliflower florets until tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to create a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to stir until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Place the steamed broccoli and cauliflower in a greased baking dish. Pour the cheese sauce over the vegetables and mix well to coat evenly.
- In a small bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs. Mix until well combined.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture generously over the top of the gratin.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving hot. Enjoy!
