Unsalted butter
1/2 cup (1 stick), plus extra for greasing
Semi-sweet chocolate
4 oz, chopped
Granulated sugar
1 cup
Eggs
2 large
Vanilla extract
1 teaspoon
All-purpose flour
1 cup
Cocoa powder
1/3 cup
Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon
Salt
1/4 teaspoon
Chocolate chips
1 cup (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chopped semi-sweet chocolate together in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth and fully melted.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined and slightly frothy.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the sugar mixture and stir until thoroughly combined.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until evenly distributed.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly dispersed throughout the batter.
  8. Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
