Bubble Tea Smoothie Extravaganza
Indulge in the perfect fusion of East meets West with this delectable Bubble Tea Smoothie. This beverage, popularized in Taiwan in the 1980s, combines the soothing flavors of black tea with the creaminess of milk, the sweetness of honey, and the exotic flavors of your chosen fruit. The pièce de résistance is, of course, the chewy tapioca pearls - an essential component of any authentic bubble tea experience.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Tapioca pearls
- 1 cup (for example, strawberries, mango, or banana) Fruit
- 1 cup Ice cubes
- 2 tablespoons Honey or Sugar
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 cups Hot water
- 2 Black tea bags

Instructions
- In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the tapioca pearls and cook according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and rinse with cold water.
- While the tapioca pearls are cooking, brew the black tea bags in 2 cups of hot water for 5 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool.
- In a blender, combine the cooled tea, milk, honey or sugar, ice cubes, and fruit. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour the smoothie into glasses to about 3/4 full.
- Add the cooked tapioca pearls to reach the top of the glass.
- Serve with a wide straw to enjoy the smoothie and tapioca pearls simultaneously. Enjoy this refreshing treat!
Tips
- Feel free to experiment with different types of fruit to change up the flavor.
- For a dairy-free version, swap out the milk for almond milk or coconut milk.
- If you prefer your bubble tea less sweet, reduce the amount of honey or sugar.
