Buffalo Shrimp Sandwich with Blue Cheese Dressing

Indulge in the layers of bold flavors in this Buffalo Shrimp Sandwich. Each bite delivers a kick of spicy buffalo shrimp balanced with the cool tanginess of homemade blue cheese dressing. Crisp lettuce and fresh tomato add a satisfying crunch, enveloped within toasted, buttery bread. This recipe captures the classic taste of Buffalo, New York, where the famous buffalo sauce was invented in the 1960s, and brings it to your kitchen.

Ingredients

Salt and pepper
to taste
Butter
2 tablespoons
Bread
4 slices
Tomato
1, sliced
Lettuce
4 leaves
Blue cheese
1/2 cup, crumbled
Mayonnaise
1/4 cup
Buffalo sauce
1/2 cup
Shrimp
1 pound, peeled and deveined

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the shrimp with the buffalo sauce until well coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let this marinade for 10 minutes.
  2. While the shrimp is marinating, prepare the blue cheese dressing in a separate bowl. Mix the mayonnaise and crumbled blue cheese together until well combined. Set aside.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the butter. Once the butter is melted, add the marinated shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the shrimp turns pink and is cooked through.
  4. While the shrimp cooks, toast the bread slices until golden brown.
  5. Spread the prepared blue cheese dressing generously on one side of each toasted bread slice.
  6. Layer lettuce and tomato slices on two of the bread slices. Top with the buffalo shrimp.
  7. Place the remaining bread slices on top to complete the sandwiches.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy the burst of flavors!

Tips

  • 💡 For a lighter version, you can use whole grain bread and Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise in the dressing. If you like it extra spicy, feel free to add more buffalo sauce.
