Servings: 12
Ingredients
- All-purpose flour
- 2 cups
- Baking powder
- 1 tablespoon
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup, divided
- Egg
- 1 large
- Milk
- 3/4 cup
- Vegetable oil
- for frying
- Ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and 1/4 cup of the granulated sugar until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, beat the egg and milk together until smooth and homogenous.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring with a wooden spoon until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour as needed until manageable.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Ensure there is enough oil to fully submerge the buñuelos.
- Take small portions of the dough (about 1 tablespoon each) and shape them into smooth balls.
- Carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Once golden, remove the buñuelos from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.
- In a shallow dish, mix the remaining 1/4 cup of granulated sugar with the ground cinnamon.
- While the buñuelos are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until evenly coated.
- Serve the buñuelos warm, and enjoy their delightful flavor and texture!
