Authentic German Butterbrot

Ingredients
- 1, thinly sliced Tomato
- 1/2, thinly sliced Cucumber
- 1 slice Ham
- 1 slice, your choice (Swiss, Gouda, or Emmental are popular choices) Cheese
- 1-2 tablespoons, at room temperature Unsalted butter
- 2 slices, preferably German rye or sourdough Bread

Instructions
- Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface.
- Spread the butter generously on one side of each bread slice, reaching all the way to the edges.
- On one of the slices, arrange the cheese slice to cover the bread surface.
- Layer the ham slice over the cheese.
- Evenly distribute the cucumber and tomato slices on top of the ham.
- Cover with the second slice of bread, butter side down.
- You can enjoy your Butterbrot as a whole, or if you prefer, slice it diagonally in half for easier eating.
