Buttered Noodles

A simple yet comforting Italian-American side dish, buttered noodles are perfect for pairing with a variety of main courses. The combination of rich butter, garlic, and Parmesan cheese creates a delightful flavor that is sure to please everyone at the table.

Serves 4

Ingredients

Egg noodles
8 ounces
Unsalted butter
4 tablespoons
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup, grated
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon
Fresh parsley
2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 6-8 minutes.
  2. While the noodles are cooking, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
  3. Once the noodles are done, reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta cooking water, then drain the noodles.
  4. Add the drained noodles to the skillet with the garlic butter. Toss to coat the noodles evenly.
  5. If the noodles seem dry, add a little of the reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.
  6. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until the cheese is melted and everything is combined.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
