This vibrant and crunchy Cabbage and Broccoli Slaw is a refreshing twist on a classic side dish, featuring crisp vegetables tossed in a tangy and creamy dressing. Perfect for barbecues, picnics, or as a colorful addition to any meal, this slaw combines the earthiness of cabbage with the bright flavor of broccoli, making it not only delicious but also nutritious. Historically, slaws have been enjoyed since ancient times, with roots tracing back to the Roman Empire when cabbage was often mixed with vinegar, oil, and spices. This modern rendition adds a touch of sweetness and creaminess, making it a delightful companion to grilled meats or as a stand-alone dish.

Servings: 6

Ingredients

Green cabbage
4 cups, shredded
Broccoli florets
2 cups, chopped
Carrots
1 cup, grated
Red onion
1 small, thinly sliced
Mayonnaise
1/2 cup
Greek yogurt
1/4 cup
Apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons
Honey
1 tablespoon
Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
Black pepper
1/4 teaspoon, or to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded green cabbage, chopped broccoli florets, grated carrots, and thinly sliced red onion. Toss gently to mix the vegetables evenly.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, apple cider vinegar, honey, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and broccoli mixture. Toss thoroughly to ensure all the vegetables are well coated with the dressing.
  4. Cover the slaw and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. This allows the flavors to meld beautifully and enhances the crunchiness of the vegetables.
  5. Serve chilled as a refreshing side dish or a crunchy topping for sandwiches and burgers. Enjoy!
