Servings: 4

Ingredients

Vegetable oil
2 cups, for frying
Black pepper
1/2 teaspoon
Salt
1/2 teaspoon
Garlic powder
1 teaspoon
Egg
1, beaten
All-purpose flour
1 cup
Onion
1, finely chopped
Carrots
2, grated
Cabbage
1/2 head, shredded

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, and chopped onion.
  2. Add the all-purpose flour, beaten egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot enough by dropping a small amount of the fritter mixture into it. If it sizzles and comes to the top, the oil is ready.
  4. Carefully scoop about 1/4 cup of the fritter mixture and drop it into the hot oil. Flatten it slightly with a spatula.
  5. Fry the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Using a slotted spoon, remove the fritters from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Repeat the process with the remaining fritter mixture. Tip: To keep the first batch of fritters warm while you cook the rest, place them in an oven preheated to a low temperature.
  8. Serve the crispy cabbage and carrot fritters hot, accompanied by your favorite dipping sauce, whether it be sweet chili sauce, a tangy yogurt dip, or a simple tomato ketchup.
