Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Vegetable oil
- 2 cups, for frying
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon
- Garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon
- Egg
- 1, beaten
- All-purpose flour
- 1 cup
- Onion
- 1, finely chopped
- Carrots
- 2, grated
- Cabbage
- 1/2 head, shredded
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, and chopped onion.
- Add the all-purpose flour, beaten egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot enough by dropping a small amount of the fritter mixture into it. If it sizzles and comes to the top, the oil is ready.
- Carefully scoop about 1/4 cup of the fritter mixture and drop it into the hot oil. Flatten it slightly with a spatula.
- Fry the fritters for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Using a slotted spoon, remove the fritters from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Repeat the process with the remaining fritter mixture. Tip: To keep the first batch of fritters warm while you cook the rest, place them in an oven preheated to a low temperature.
- Serve the crispy cabbage and carrot fritters hot, accompanied by your favorite dipping sauce, whether it be sweet chili sauce, a tangy yogurt dip, or a simple tomato ketchup.
