
Cabbage and Potato Gratin
This delicious cabbage and potato gratin is a comforting and flavorful side dish that pairs well with any main course.
Ingredients
- Fresh parsley (2 tablespoons, chopped)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- Parmesan cheese (1/2 cup, grated)
- Cheddar cheese (1 cup, grated)
- Milk (2 cups)
- All (purpose flour - 4 tablespoons)
- Butter (4 tablespoons)
- Garlic (2 cloves, minced)
- Onion (1 medium, thinly sliced)
- Potatoes (4 medium, thinly sliced)
- Cabbage (1 small head, thinly sliced)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the cabbage and potatoes to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle the flour over the cabbage and potatoes and stir to coat evenly.
- Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens.
- Stir in the cheddar cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
