Servings: 4
Ingredients
- Coffee grounds
- 1 cup, coarsely ground
- Cinnamon sticks
- 2-3 sticks
- Piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar)
- 1/2 cup, broken into pieces
- Water
- 4 cups
- Clove (optional)
- 1-2 whole cloves
- Vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 teaspoon
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the water, piloncillo, and cinnamon sticks. If using, add the whole cloves for an extra layer of flavor.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to help dissolve the piloncillo completely.
- Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and stir in the coffee grounds. Simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the coffee to fully extract its flavors.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let the coffee steep for an additional 5 minutes to deepen the taste.
- Strain the coffee through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into mugs or cups, discarding the solids.
- If desired, add a splash of vanilla extract for a fragrant twist.
- Serve hot, and enjoy the rich, comforting flavors of Café de Olla!
