Servings: 20
Ingredients
- Vegetable oil
- enough for deep frying
- Samoosa wrappers
- 20 pieces
- Salt
- 1 teaspoon, or to taste
- Black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon, or to taste
- Curry powder
- 2 tablespoons
- Peas
- 1/2 cup, frozen
- Carrot
- 1 large, finely diced
- Garlic
- 2 cloves, minced
- Onion
- 1 medium, finely chopped
- Ground beef
- 500 grams
Instructions
- Heat a large pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until completely browned.
- Stir in the onion, minced garlic, finely diced carrot, frozen peas, curry powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
- Remove the pan from the heat and let the filling cool down before wrapping.
- Take a samoosa wrapper and place a spoonful of the cooled filling at one corner. Fold the wrapper over the filling, creating a triangle. Continue folding the wrapper in a triangle pattern until you reach the end. Moisten the edge with a little water to seal it.
- Repeat the wrapping process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot until it reaches 375°F (190°C). Ensure there is enough oil to fully submerge the samoosas.
- Fry the samoosas in batches for 2-3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the fryer to ensure even cooking.
- Drain the cooked samoosas on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve the Cape Malay Samoosas hot, accompanied with your choice of tangy dipping sauce.
