Experience a delightful symphony of flavors with these caramelized scallops. Each succulent morsel is seared to a golden-brown perfection, then bathed in a mouth-watering caramelized sauce that's rich with the subtle sweetness of brown sugar and the tangy freshness of lemon. This dish, with its roots in French cuisine, offers a luxurious seafood experience right at your dinner table.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

Lemon juice
1 tablespoon
Brown sugar
2 tablespoons
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Olive oil
2 tablespoons
Unsalted butter
2 tablespoons
Salt and pepper
to taste
Scallops
1 pound

Instructions

  1. Season the scallops on both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium-high heat until the butter is melted.
  3. Add the scallops to the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they develop a golden-brown crust. Remove the scallops from the skillet and set them aside.
  4. Lower the heat to medium, then add the minced garlic to the same skillet. Cook it for 1 minute, until it becomes fragrant.
  5. Add the brown sugar and lemon juice to the skillet, stirring continuously to combine them with the garlic. Allow the mixture to simmer for 2-3 minutes, until it develops a syrupy consistency.
  6. Return the scallops to the skillet, tossing them gently in the caramelized sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, until the scallops are well-coated and heated through.
  7. Serve the scallops immediately, drizzled with the remaining caramelized sauce from the skillet. Enjoy this dish with a side of roasted vegetables or a simple green salad for a balanced meal.
