Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the lime juice, orange juice, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create a flavorful marinade.
- Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, ensuring it's hot enough to give the steak a nice sear.
- Remove the flank steak from the marinade and discard the excess marinade.
- Grill the steak for approximately 4-5 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C). Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain for maximum tenderness.
- While the steak is resting, warm the corn tortillas on the grill for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
- To assemble the tacos, place a few slices of grilled steak onto each tortilla. Top with chopped cilantro, diced onion, salsa, and sliced avocado for a burst of freshness.
- Serve the carne asada tacos with lime wedges on the side for an extra zing.
- Enjoy!
Tips
- For added heat, consider mixing diced jalapeños into the salsa or topping the tacos with sliced fresh chilies.
- Feel free to customize the toppings with your favorites, such as crumbled queso fresco, pickled onions, or shredded cabbage.
- These tacos pair beautifully with a side of Mexican street corn or a refreshing cilantro-lime rice.
